MASON CITY - It took nearly 100 minutes, but the NIACC women's soccer team came away victorious, edging Scott Community College 2-1 in overtime in ICCAC action at the NIACC pitch on Saturday.
Keinelle Johnson scored the game-winning goal for NIACC (4-4 overall, 4-4 ICCAC) with just 36.5 seconds remaining in the extra session.
NIACC took an early 1-0 lead in the second minute of the match as Celine Witt scored on an assist from Sophia Gebl. Witt finished with five of NIACC's 11 shots.
NIACC held the 1-0 lead until just over three minutes remained in regulation as Scott tied the match to force the 10-minute OT and the teams appeared headed for a second 10-minute OT before Johnson instead ended the match.
NIACC returns to action on Tuesday at Dakota County Technical College.
